Rooted Side Table / Stained ash, discarded street branches

Rooted Side Table / Stained ash, discarded street branches

The top of the Rooted Side Table takes a form of an ordinary side table and transitions down to what seem like the roots of a tree. This furniture piece is a reminder that a plethora of things that we utilize and consume everyday comes from and ends up in mother nature.

The Rooted Side Table was created as a collaboration project through RISD x BROWN STEAM organization. I partnered with Brooke Osbourne, a Brown University PhD student who studied Ecosystem Ecology to discuss, develop and create this piece. It was presented as a part of a group exhibition, Discover: A Conversation between Science and Art 2017.
